About

The super shrimps

The aquarium

Your new friends are called opae ulas or super shrimps. These super shrimps are native to Hawaii. The reason why they are zero maintenance pets which require no feeding or water changes is because they live in a perfectly balanced self-sustaining eco-system.

The self-sustaining shrimp eco-system works by having algae in the jar. The shrimps eat the algae in the tank and produce waste and carbon dioxide. The carbon dioxide and waste from the shrimps become nutrients for the algae, which in turn, helps the algae grow and provide oxygen and more food for the shrimps.

As long as there is algae and shrimps in the jar, your self-sustaining shrimpquariums can live for up to 20 years!

You can choose from a selection of glass aquariums to house your super shrimps. Design your own sand art with a variety of colours available for the base of the aquarium and furnish your shrimp oasis with volcanic rocks, sea fan, and shells. A moss ball and macroalgae will be added into your aquarium for a rich source of food for your super shrimps.
